What is the Meaning of Life?

I have started to wonder about the answer to this question quite a while ago since fifth grade and guess what, I still do not have an answer to this yet. This is an open-ended question and it is often perceived as meaningless when one wonders what is the answer to this question. However, I believe that if we don't set up an answer for ourselves, life itself would seem like simply a follow of the route of society it has been for years.

I talked about this on my podcast yesterday and the thoughts that I poured out through that video may not seem clear and organized, however it is exactly because of that that I am able to organize my thoughts now and write a more structured response to this question.

First, to me, we have to understand that we exist within a set of boundaries, and even though those sets of boundaries are not explicitly showed to us in everyday life, if we really think about how our society evolved, it is basically based on a hierarchy of how hard and smart we work. One would not be able to get to the "top" of society without major accomplishments and change made in his or her life. That is how it has been for thousands of years already. In my podcast, I wondered how our world would be like if it did not have the boundaries that we have set today--if there are no laws or policies keeping this world under control. If there are no infrastructure of society that allows us to be in the shape of humanity we are today with all the technology and buildings and innovations that we have created, our world would be in a state where it would be even harder to find meaning in life because it is so free. Just like in Dune, "liberty breeds chaos", and I believe that this chaos would only make it harder for us to know why we are who we are today. Perhaps we are destined to be like this, but let's leave the supernatural side of this issue for now as it would not be too relevant to discuss in the world where physicality is more tangible. Those boundaries allows us to create thoughts that are "outside the box" and allows us to be beings that are deemed as "superior" to non-humans animals due to our ability to be creative and to breed a society that has such a complex hierarchy and such a diversity of species. This might be hard to understand but I believe that it is those boundaries that allow us to feel this way of being superior and having this improvement in our lives.

So why care about improvement? It's not like anyone is going to punish us if we stay like how we were in caves and eating raw meat for life. This is where the real question comes in as no matter how wonderful life is or will be, it will all have an end to it. It is kind of hosting a party and the party itself is super wonderful, but it will eventually have an end to it. However, when people host parties, they don't usually think about it ending and everyone feeling sad that it has ended, but they think about how fun it will be in the process and how everyone will enjoy it if they host it well. I guess that defines the true meaning of life--the process.

If we think of life as the party, there will be so many aspects to it and everything will start to make sense because life is fun. It is exactly why we are brought to this world--to live life. And it is our choice on how we do it.
