What Can Lead Humans to Extinction? 什么能导致人类灭绝？

We all know that dinosaurs went distinct millions and millions of years ago, but, if we continue to harm the environment, we will go extinct just like the dinosaurs. So, what are the things that we are doing that are letting us humans go extinct?

Number one, synthetic viruses. With millions of deaths chalked up to natural viruses like smallpox, influenza, coronavirus, HIV and Ebola, it’s unsurprising that experts see an engineered virus as one of the key existential threats to humans. The first synthetic virus was created in 2002, and with the genomes of over 3,000 viruses available online, it may only be a matter of time until one is deliberately released.

Number two, "supervolcano" eruption. This might sound funny, but don't laugh, you know what killed the city of Pompeïï? A big volcano did all the mess! Without the Sun’s energy driving almost every natural process, humans have little hope of holding on.

Number three, artificial intelligence. Robots and programming might be as smart as humans one day, but some tasks are "human only", that means if artificial intelligence jump in at the wrong time, we might get in a big mess!

Number four, nuclear apocalypse. This might be a bit confusing, but in simple words, this just means: if a country's nuclear weapon was not used correctly we will end up in a big mess! Do you think building weapons and nuclear bombs are a waste of money, resource, and time?

Number five, antibiotic resistance. People who are addicted to drugs or have drug overdose, have a high chance of antibiotic resistance. This means the person's body is not sensitive anymore to antibiotics that gets injected to his or her body, and that will lead to some live "superbugs" in that person's immune systems that will get them sick.
