Recent Thoughts

I guess I don’t feel that lost as of now in life, which I of course know is a good thing, but as of now, I feel like sometimes, things don’t go your way, and you feel like what you are doing might be the wrong thing because they are not working out I guess this is just a part of the process, because I hope that when I look back, I just wish that all the things I have done and all the difficulties I have endured will all build to success. That is just how I’ve been feeling lately—lost but fulfilled.

Another “trap” I am falling into these days is beauty. Ever since my mom bought me the pair of ear clips (one was a star and another was a moon) and a star-shaped ring, I am somehow into the world of beauty. Perhaps this is the phase where a lot of girls have to go through in puberty, but the weird thing about this for me is that I never thought I would be into beauty, as the feeling of putting on makeup and having an extensive skincare routine everyday is not only time-consuming, unnecessary, and also bad for the skin as from experience, makeup will make my skin feel like it is about to suffocate, and I cannot even touch my face and do all of that. However, one thing that I will always be firmly against putting on makeup to change who you are and how you want to look. For example, a lot of girls in China put on so much makeup every day that it makes their face look extremely white to the point where it does not even look like their own skin, but because a lot of girls in China still think that looking white and skinny is what the world perceives as beauty, thus, they would need to look like so to be accepted. That is when I draw the line—even though I may or may not use makeup, that choice is solely dependent on me and how I want to present myself. 

I have also posted interviews I did with students from Yale and what they want to do in the future on the Unit-E channel and from those interviews, one thing that I can conclude from interviewing them is that there is not one guest who was on the show who is not genuinely caring about what they do and who does not have any innovative ideas in the realm that they are in. For you to excel and show your uniqueness, you not only need to be passionate about what you do, you need to bring something new to the table that is authentic to you and constructive to the world. That is the key to success in a world where every industry and realm seems quite saturated.
