Our Life on a Plate

Today, when I was eating lunch, I realized that life is just like the food that is on our plate, and the food that is in front of us. Some people will be able to eat all they can from the variety of food that is in front of them, and it is all theirs, and that is the type of person that may be seen as the “wealthy”. Some other people might not be so fortunate, they only have so much food on their plate, and they only have so much time to finish it, and when they do finish their food, they look up, and might realize that they should’ve taken the risk to get some more that is in front of them, but then realizes that they did not have the time, energy, or the room in their stomach to fit all that food in. Sometimes, we regret that we didn’t take the opportunity to eat the food that we like from the options that is being presented in front of us. However, it is already gone—eaten by other people, and there is no way to get it back.

That is how terrifying but fun life is. We not only enjoy the present and what we have, but also feel discontent about what we have as our greed expands more and more. This may be seen as a negative situation, however, when we think about how limiting life is, we should be prioritizing our experience with what we have and what we can have, and not worrying about how we can obtain what we may not have the time and energy to obtain. This happens a lot for me as I want to get myself involved in a lot of projects, but sometimes, due to the abundance of them, I might not be able to enjoy what I have to the greatest extent, which made me realize, part of life’s most important missions is to find out what you can do and how much can you do so that you can always use the time you have for the most.
